The Purple Pile Driver

The Purple Pile Driver is a rather ineffective villain who possesses a hat with a propeller that can generate a force field of super-fast air. Superman easily defeats the Pile Driver twice, including an incident after a short-lived escape from a police wagon (Act No. 464, Oct 1976: "Superman, I'm Going to Re-Run Your Life!").

The Purple Pile Driver returns, but again, is no real threat, as Superman busies himself with aliens called Sh'strians (S No. 371, May 1982: "Kandor Lives Again!").
