A Metropolis gangster and member of the underworld organization known as the Crime Syndicate who has been transformed through plastic surgery into an exact double for Superman, as part of an elaborate scheme by the syndicate to murder Superman secretly with Kryptonite and then have Barton impersonate him so that they can recover the incriminating evidence against them accumulated by Superman and now being held in the safe in Perry White's office. Barton and his Crime Syndicate cohorts are apprehended by Superman in January 1958 (S No. 118/3: "The Death of Superman!"). (TGSB)
