Baron Munsdorf

MUNSDORF (Baron).

The murderous leader of a ring of spies for an unnamed “foreign racketeer nation” whose attempts, through murder, terror, and torture, to force a courageous inventor named Professor Hunter to relinquish the formula for his powerful “new anaesthetic gas,” a gas capable of putting an entire community instantly to sleep, are thwarted by Superman in December 1940.

Confronted finally by Superman in Professor Hunter’s laboratory, the treacherous baron meets a richly deserved doom when he “unleashes a bolt of incredible voltage” from a “deadly sub-atomic death-ray gun” that ricochets off Superman’s outstretched hand and “blasts back from the Man of Steel to the body of Munsdorf himself,” killing the villain instantly. “That’s one less spy for the country to worry about!” murmurs Superman grimly (Act No.31).
