The Quakerer

Action No. 430

Superman's name for a member of a chameleon-like species that lives in his own apartment building. It is revealed that the lizard-beings of the Quakerer gain control of the earth in the 420th century and have sent him back in time to use incredible camouflage ability and technology to test seismic weapons that will later help them gain mastery of the planet in the distant future. The Quakerer manages to take Clark Kent and other residents of his building into a time-warping vehicle that looks like a Metropolis city bus. The identity of the enemy reptile proves hard to decipher because his species can not only change their own appearance, but that of others as well. Eventually, Superman is able to defeat the Quakerer (but at the expense of his secret identity being revealed) -- but through his super-powers, he is able to return the bus of humans to a time just before the time-travel incident occurs. (Act No. 430, Dec 1973: "Bus-Ride to Nowhere!"; Act No. 431, Jan 1974: "The Monster Who Unmasked Superman!")
