Adam Strange
While on a dig in South America, archaeologist Adam Strange meets hostile natives and must run for his life. While fleeing, he jumps across a ravine and lands on a strange planet many light years away. He is beamed away by a Zeta Beam sent from the planet Rann, which orbits the star Alpha Centauri. The device that accomplishes this is part of an effort to communicate with Earth but bizarre circumstances alter the Zeta Beam into a teleportation ray instead (Showcase No. 17, Nov/Dec 1958: "Secret of the Eternal City!").
Adam Strange teams up with Superman to battle and defeat the villainous Kaskor in November 1978 (DCCP No. 3, Nov 1978: "The Riddle of Little Earth Lost!") and in June 1985, he joins Superman once more to battle and defeat the villainous Zazura (DCCP No. 82: "The Ghost of Krypton Past!").
