Talk:Superman III (1971)
jayfort sent this along:
I was browsing through your Supermanica Encyclopedia the other night when I noticed an error on the Superman III entry.
The text references a Superman story in Action Comics in the early 70s in which Superman dies and is replaced by a Superman II and, later, a Superman III; who were basically clones/androids. The picture with the article states something about Superman III before he received his S. The story the article describes and the picture are from two different stories.
The picture is from another series of stories that I believed were published in were published in Superman comics (not Action) and were about an aged Superman's grandson, Superman III, who was completing the training program set by his father and grandfather before earning his S.

Yeah, he's right...the weird thing is, the picture caption DOES identify the later story, strange...--MatterEaterLad 20:00, 31 July 2006 (EDT)
Maybe a "Superman Three" entry?
Perhaps Superman 3 is a better name? Write it! --Super Monkey 20:06, 31 July 2006 (EDT)
Well, I don't know anything about the story as of now, but I can snoop around...--MatterEaterLad 20:12, 31 July 2006 (EDT)
Jayfort is right - I remember scanning that picture from the story he mentioned. Both characters are called "Superman III" in their stories, so that's what they should be called in Supermanica. I think we should take a tip from Wikipedia here and have the "Superman III" page be a disambiguation page that refers to something along the lines of "Superman III (future descendent)" and "Superman III (construct)". Then if others come up, they can be added to the list. -- Macduff 11:49, 1 August 2006 (EDT)
One of the formats that we use here for people with the same name would be the name followed by the year. So it would be Superman III (1971) and Superman III (1980). --Super Monkey 15:27, 1 August 2006 (EDT)
I've gone ahead and implemented this. A'dam'mkent 3272 04:55, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
