A ruthless Nazi villain, so named because of his hideous vampirish fangs, who, having plumbed the ocean depths in a special “super diving- bell” and taught a slew of horrifying sea monsters to obey commands communicated to them by means of a special whistle, obtains permission from Adolf Hitler to use his gruesome sea creatures to ravage Allied shipping and disrupt the flow of lend-lease goods between the United States and Britain. Thwarted repeatedly by Superman in January-February 1943, Herr Fange dies a grisly death when he accidentally damages his special whistle during a climactic battle with Superman, and, left without any means of controlling his sea monsters, is attacked and devoured by them (S No. 20/2: “Destroyers from the Depths”) (TGSB).
