The most northern point on the surface of the Earth.

In May/June 1948, Superman encounters and defeats several actors masquerading as the Norse gods Thor, Loki, and Odin on the set of a film being produced at the North Pole (S No.52).

In May/June 1949 Superman first makes use of his Fortress of Solitude, noting "I built it here, in the polar wastes because the intense cold keeps away snoopers" (S No.58/3: "The Case of the Second Superman"). The Fortress is said to be located inside "a desolate mountain top in the Arctic" (Act No.241, June 1958: "The Super-Key to Fort Superman"; and others), either "at the North Pole" (Act No.242, July 1958: "The Super-Duel in Space") or near it (Act No.243, August 1958: "The Lady and the Lion"; and others).

In November 1972, Superman battles the Galactic Golem near the Fortress of Solitude. Forcing the Golem over the magnetic North Pole (the point on the Earth's surface where the planet's magnetic field is strongest), Superman encases him in molten iron and nickel (S No.258/1: "Fury of the Energy-Eater!").
