Derek Niles

A ruthless creditor of the Jordan Circus who, determined to gain possession of the circus by hook or by crook, tries buying the circus from Manager Jordan, but after being refused, orders his henchman Trigger to carry out a heinous campaign of murderous sabotage designed to prevent the circus from meeting its debts. Superman apprehends Trigger in December 1938, and the cunning Niles, cornered soon afterward, faints “from sheer fright” when he sees his bullets bouncing harmlessly off Superman's chest. He was soon jailed for the failed assassination of Lois Lane (Act No. 7).
