An English crime-fighter who, with his youthful companion the Squire, fights crime in England much as Batman and Robin fight crime in the United States. In everyday life, the Knight and the Squire are secretly the Earl of Woredenshire and his young son Cyril, who inhabit stately Wordenshire Castle just outside the quiet English town of Wordenshire. However, when the ringing of the bell in the Wordenshire village rectory warns them that their services are needed, they swiftly don knightly rainment and roar into action astride their motorized "war horses"—the so-called "motorcycle-horses"—which are actually powerful motorcycles decked out like medeival war horses.

In July-August 1957 the Knight and the Squire visit the United States in response to a summons from "well-known philanthropist" John Mayhew, who wishes to award the Knight and the Squire and other world-famous crime-fighters—including Batman and Robin, Superman, The Gaucho, The Legionary, and The Musketeer—charter membership in his newly formed Club of Heroes (WF No. 89: "The Club of Heroes!")
