In 1993 D.C. Comics came out with the story line The Death of Superman. In the story line a mysterious creature named Doomsday begins a path of destruction across the United States. Doomsday wipes out the whole Justice League putting the member called the Blue Beetle in a coma. At this point Superman comes into the battle against Doomsday. The two fight through like half the United States and finally reach Metropolis. Superman is really worn down by this point and in a fight to the finish both Superman and Doomsday perish after a final blow. (click here for picture of Death of Superman) [[1]]
