The Interplanetary Olympics

A competition held among the finest athletes known to the galaxy. There have been, perhaps, two records of this athletic event, possibly two separate events -- the accounts may be in disagreement.

Action #220, first account of the Interplanetary Olympics

Superman competes in the Olympics on the planet Thon and loses to Bronno, who is later discovered to be an enhanced robot. Kryptonite used in the masonry of the competition's venue weakens Superman and inhibits his performance. (Act No. 220, Sep 1956: "The Interplanetary Olympics")

In another adventure, Superman participates in a similar event and fails to gain honors. He admits that using his full powers would aid criminals Rogan, Borko, and Boscar in an attempt to drain his strength to fuel their spacecraft. (Act No. 304, Sep 1963: "The Interplanetary Olympics!")
