The red-haired journalism-school graduate, who is the son of Daily Planet editor Perry White and his wife Alice White. Will White has two brothers: Hank White and Perry White, Jr.
In September-October 1951, Will White applies for a cub reporter’s job on the Daily Planet under the alias of Will Whitman, in obedience to his father’s request that he demonstrate his reportorial skills on his own, without capitalizing on his father’s prestige and influence. Although Perry White agrees to hire his son, only if the youngster can bring in a major news story within 24 hours, young White fulfills the assignment and earns his reporter’s job, by uncovering the information Superman needs to enable him to apprehend a gang of protection racketeers.
