An alien youth with the ability to turn objects into gold who arrives on Earth and befriends [[Superboy]]. Superboy aids the youth, who he discovers is weaker than normal Earthlings, and establishes a human guise for him by giving him the Earth name Alan. Unfortunately, a criminal discovers Dworn's "Midas" power and has his men capture him. They force Dworn to provide them with an unlimited supply of gold. Superboy attempts to rescue his friend, but the criminal keeps Superboy at bay with a piece of [[Kryptonite]]. Surprisingly, the radioactive mineral has an unexpected effect on Dworn, and actually gives him additional super-powers. With these extra abilities, Dworn is able to aid Superboy in defeating the crooks.
