A scientist whose reputation was once ruined when he predicted that a meteor would strike [[Metropolis]].  Years later, he interviews [[Superman]] and asks him what his first exploit might have been.  Superman recalls leaving the rocket transporting him to Earth as a baby and fighting an alien monster on an asteroid in space.  When he returns to his rocket, the infant Kal-El changes the meteor's trajectory and causes it to go off course and miss the city of Metropolis.  Therefore, Dr. Kearns's original hypothesis is shown to have been accurate after all (S No. 106, Jul 1956: "Superman's First Exploit!").

Dr. Reese Kearns

A Metropolis scientist—a noted astronomer until he was branded a fraud and hoaxer many years ago for predicting the imminent arrival of a meteor that never fell—who regains his good name and his scientific reputation by establishing finally, in July 1956, that the reason his meteor never struck Earth as anticipated was that the infant Superman unexpectedly deflected it off course during his initial journey earthward from the exploded planet Krypton (S No. 106/1: "Superman's First Exploit").
