A Metropolis pickpocket, also referred to as Danny the Dip, who steals a package out of Lois Lane’s handbag unaware that it contains a chunk of synthetic green Kryptonite surreptitiously planted there by Lex Luthor as part of his scheme to destroy Superman (Act No. 141, Feb 1950: “Luthor’s Secret Weaponâ€).
When Dan the Dip discovers that the strange green rock in his possession somehow has the power to paralyze Superman, he forms an alliance with a gang of criminals, promising to protect them against Superman in return for one third of their loot.
