A gigantic amphitheater in Rome which was erected by the emperors Vespasian and Titus (69-81 A.D.) and remains one of the world’s great landmarks. Used for gladiatorial games and other entertainments, it measured 620 by 513 feet and had a seating capacity of about 50,000.
