Beppo, the Super-Monkey.

I was the experimental monkey, Superboy's father, Jor-El, used to determine whether his son could survive space conditions. I stowed away in Superbaby's rocket and when it reached Earth, like him and Krypto, I gained super-powers under the yellow sun. -- Beppo, the Super-Monkey

A playful Kryptonian laboratory monkey that survived the explosion of the planet Krypton; as the result of having been launched into outer space in an experimental space capsule and ultimately landing on Earth, where, like any native of Krypton, he acquired super-powers like Superman's and became known as Beppo, the Super-Monkey.

Beppo wears a colorful red and blue costume modeled after Superman's and is a member of the Legion of Super-Pets. When Metropolis television station WMET-TV inaugurates its new "Our American Heroes" series with a program honoring Superman, "our greatest American hero," Beppo appears on the show along with three of the other super-pets— Krypto the Superdog, Comet the Super-Horse, and Streaky the Super-Cat—to help pay tribute to the Man of Steel (Act No. 309, Feb 1964: "The Superman Super-Spectacular!"). In April 1965 Beppo journeys through the time barrier to the mid-nineteenth century to help Superman and the other super-pets teach a well-deserved lesson to "cruel junkman" Cyrus Atwill (S No. 176/1: "The Revenge of the Super-Pets!").
