Bloodmorel is a dreaded fungus from the Scarlet Jungle of Krypton, which grows in the blood of infected beings and causes fever, hallucinations, overexertion, and in 92% of cases, death.
In September 1985, Clark Kent is infected by this fungus which grew steadily worse until he loses control of his powers and senses his death is imminent. Not wanting to pitied in his delerium, he flees to the American rural south where he finally collapses near a swamp.
However while in the final stages of the infection, Swamp Thing finds Clark and manages to stop the infection and cure him. (DCCP No. 85, Sep 1985: "The Jungle Line!")
