Star Boy

Thom Kallor, from 30th century Xanthu, was born on a space station where his parents conducted research on the light emitted from celestial stars. This starlight gives Thom the ability to draw mass from the stars and transfer it into any object - making it super-heavy (Adv No. 365, Feb 1968: "Origins and Powers of the Legion of Super-Heroes!").

Before adopting his super-heroic identity as Star Boy, Thom was bathed in radioactive emissions of a comet's tail, and developed other powers that were almost identical to Superboy, and he had a Lana Lang-like girlfriend named Zynthia (Adv No. 282, Mar 1961: "Lana Lang and the Legion of Super-Heroes!").

Star Boy is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. He is once suspended for killing in self-defense (Adv No. 342, Mar 1966: "The Legionnaire Who Killed!"), but later is re-admitted to the Legion.

Superboy Parallel

During the period when Star Boy possessed "pseudo-Kryptonian" powers, he was almost identical to Superboy except for the following things:

  • Protects 30th century Xanthu instead of Earth.
  • Gets his power from the radioactive energies of a comet.
  • Possesses infrared and electrical visions instead of heat vision.
  • His X-Ray vision cannot penetrate copper instead of lead.
  • Does not seem to be vulnerable to substances such as kryptonite.
