Moximus
A magician buried in the ancient ash of Pompeii, Moximus comes back to life in the 20th century after being discoved by archaeologist Professor Lewis Lang. He uses his considerable powers to incorporate Superman into a weapon that will destroy Metropolis - just as Moximus's ancient Roman city was almost 2,000 years in the past. Moximus does not succeed and he fades away and avoids apprehension (S No. 343, Jan 1980: "The Last Days of Metropolis!").
