R.J. Brande
Rene Jacques Brande, a mysterious tycoon and philanthropist of the 30th century, organizes and funds the group of super-powered teens known as the Legion of Super-Heroes. Though referred to earlier, he first appears in the chronicles in Adv No. 350, Nov 1966: "The Outcast Super-Heroes!" and is rescued by the Legion after being kidnapped (Adv No. 351, Dec 1966: "The Forgotten Legion!"). His vision and monetary resources make possible the Legion's headquarters, equipment, and many of their technological devices. Later adventures reveal that Brande is a Durian locked in human form, and that he is the father of Chameleon Boy.
