Zora Vi-Lar took on Supergirl as the “Black Flame.” She was a jealous scientist female from the bottled city of Kandor, she escaped in order to strip Supergirl of her powers. However, she was stripped of her powers through exposure to Gold Kryptonite, she was aprehended back in Kandor and subsequently reformed. She was a close friend of the criminal Lesla, whom took the surname Lar from Black Flame's family.

A Kandorian enemy of Supergirl who is ultimately defeated and rendered powerless by Gold Kryptonite before returning to the bottle city to lead a crime-free life (Act No. 304/2, Sep 1963: "The Maid of Menace!"). Mr. Mxyzptlk once takes on the form of Black Flame in an attempt to humiliate Superman and Batman (WF No. 169, Sep 1967: "The Supergirl-Batgirl Plot!").
