Wilmington Waffle
A "famed Hollywood comic" who, clad in a Superman costume, performs a series of hilarious Superman spoofs, such as extinguishing a theater-prop bomb by dousing it with a seltzer bottle, to plug his forthcoming motion picture, unaware that warlike aliens hovering above the Earth have mistaken him for the real Superman and are intent on invading Earth unless, during the brief period they have set aside for observation, they see "Superman" display the kind of awesome power that would be necessary to thwart their invasion. Superman, who is aware of the aliens' presence, uses a ruse to persuade Waffle to abandon his comedic Superman impersonation, and then performs a feat of super-strength sufficient to cow the aliens into leaving Earth forever (S No. 93/1, Nov 1954: "The Super-Joke Superman!").
