Quasmania
The home of the Chirroba tribe of "cliff-dwellers," a "rugged" area of "impassable country," located somewhere in South America, to which Superman travels in July-August 1941 in hopes of finding the "secret cure" to a hideous "yellow plague" that has suddenly broken out in Metropolis, a plague described as "an affliction almost exclusive to [the Chirroba] tribe." In the words of Superman No. 11/3:
Dread doom sweeps down upon Metropolis in the form of a mysterious, unknown malady that grips hundreds and sends wholesale terror screaming thru [sic] the streets! Superman, aroused by the ghastly peril, comes to grips with an intangible menace that carries him across continents and into incredible adventures until he reaches his goal: the banishment of the dread illness which first renders man repulsive in appearance, transformers him into a raving maniac, then snuffs out his existence!
In Quasmania, Superman finds that Quismado, the evil high priest of the Chirrobas, has murdered the tribe's chief, imprisoned the chief's son, and, with the backing of an American gangster and his henchmen, terrorized the Chirrobas into submission and seized control of the tribe. Together, the villains have "deliberately started the plague in Metropolis so we could later demand heavy dough for banishing it!"
Swinging into action with his mighty superpowers, Superman defeats the evil Quismado and his gangland cohorts, restores the son of the murdered chief to his rightful place of tribal leadership, and recovers the secret cure needed to halt the ghastly epidemic in Metropolis. Quismado plummets to an agonizing doom when the "momentum" of Superman racing past him sweeps him over the edge of a fiery volcano, and the evil priest's ruthless underworld allies are annihilated when a stick of dynamite they hurl at Superman rebounds off an outjutting rock and explodes violently in their midst.
