Lita Laverne
A beautiful raven-haired actress and undercover spy for the nation of Toran, a European aggressor country at war with the neighboring states of Luxor and Galonia, who conspires with a Luxorian army officer loyal to Toran to torpedo a neutral nation's ocean liner and make Luxor appear responsible as a ploy to win "the sympathy of the democracies" for the Toranian cause. The scheme is thwarted by Superman, who foils the plot to sink the neutral vessel and exposes the conspiracy to Luxorian authorities. They in turn order a shake-up of the Luxorian army designed to purge its ranks of Toranian sympathizers (Act No. 22, Mar 1940).
The use of place-names in this text is confusing and inconsistent, and it is possible that the names Luxor and Galonia are alternate designations for the same country. (TGSB)
