Journeying to Earth in pursuit of six criminals from his world, Phantas takes on the form of the vengeful ghost of Dr. Phantas, a recently deceased occultist and collector. The ghost curses [[Clark Kent]], vowing to kill Kent's fellow reporters as punishment for opening his casket. When several reporters known to Kent meet grisly deaths, Kent is assumed to be jinxed and his presence causes a panic in journalistic circles. However, unbeknownst to all but Phantas, each targeted reporter is actually a criminal "transmorph of the planet Rhadmanth" who has taken on the vulnerable human form of Clark Kent's fellows --all passengers in a plane that has the misfortune to be passing overhead just as the aliens land on Earth. Using his ghostly ruse and his "kinetic powers" to project himself "as any form of energy," Phantas tracks down and eliminates the criminals, making the deaths seem like bizarre scientifically-plausible accidents. | Journeying to Earth in pursuit of six criminals from his world, Phantas takes on the form of the vengeful ghost of Dr. Phantas, a recently deceased occultist and collector. Phantas
The hereditary Eliminator of Rhadmanth.
Journeying to Earth in pursuit of six criminals from his world, Phantas takes on the form of the vengeful ghost of Dr. Phantas, a recently deceased occultist and collector. The ghost curses Clark Kent, vowing to kill Kent's fellow reporters as punishment for opening his casket.
When Superman confronts Phantas after disguising himself as one of the alien's intended victims, the Eliminator confesses his origins. Having completed his mission, Phantas "revive[s] the genuine reporters" and returns to his home planet (Act No.379, Aug 1969: "The Eliminator!").
