Big Words

Art by Jack Kirby assisted by Murphy Anderson

So named because of his extensive vocabulary, Big Words is the most intellectual member of the Newsboy Legion (SPJO No. 133, Oct 1970: "Jimmy Olsen, Superman's Pal, Brings Back the Newsboy Legion"). "Content to have [his] dad's I.Q.," this tall, bespectacled fellow is also the creator and designer of the Whiz Wagon. His father, a member of the original Newsboy Legion, was also nicknamed Big Words, yet in this case father and son seem to have exactly the same name, unlike Gabby Jr. and Scrapper Jr.
