Super-Girl
A lovely blond super-heroine, endowed with super-powers identical to Superman's and clad in a red-and-blue costume featuring a red cape, miniskirt, and high-heeled boots, with a red letter "S" on a yellow field emblazoned on her chest. She materializes out of nowhere in August 1958 in response to Jimmy Olsen's wish on a magic Indian totem for a "super-girl" to appear as a fitting companion for Superman. The newly arrived super-heroine proves more of a hindrance than a help to Superman however, due to her inexperience in using super-powers and her inadvertent near-betrayal of Superman's secret identity. Ultimately, in a final act of heroism and redemption, she courageously overexposes herself to Kryptonite while saving the life of Superman, and, mortally weakened, prevails upon Jimmy Olsen to use his magic totem to dispatch her "back into the mysterious limbo from which she came..." (S No. 123: chs. 1-3-"The Girl of Steel"; "The Lost Super-Powers"; "Superman's Return to Krypton"). Super-Girl is not to be confused with Supergirl. (TGSB)
