Rick Lawrence
Rick is a resident of Metropolis who undergoes a series of medical treatments from a scientist known as Dr. Sunder. These experiments allow Lawrence's cells to absorb the powers of opponents from previous fights when he is under the influence of adrenaline. He challenges Superman twice, the first time with power gained from a defeat by Wonder Woman, the second time with the powers of a distracted Superman from the first confrontation. Since Rick continues to escalate his fighting objectives, he is always "one step behind" and Superman is able to defeat Lawrence again. Because he has absorbed Kryptonian powers, Superman takes him to live in Kandor (Act No. 452, Oct 1975: "The Loser--and New Champion!").
