Queen Latora
The lovely ruler of the far-distant planet Vergo, a world doomed to imminent extinction beneath a blanket of glacial ice unless a way can be found to revitalize the dying sun around which it revolves. Alerted to the Vergoans’ plight by a Kryptonian "mind-tape," recorded years earlier by his father Jor-El and now fallen to Earth embedded in a Kryptonite meteor, Superman flashes into outer space, gathers together a planet-sized sphere of space-drift rich in uranium ore, and then sends it hurtling into the dying ember of the Vergoan sun, which, revitalized by the exploding uranium, will now continue to burn brightly for centuries to come (S No. 113, May 1957: chs. 1-3—"The Superman of the Past"; "The Secret of the Towers"; "The Superman of the Present").
