Kull-Ex
A young scientist from the bottle city of Kandor who, having successfully escaped from the bottle into the outside world while simultaneously imprisoning Superman in Kandor by means of an ingenious "exchange ray," commits a series of insanely destructive acts while impersonating Superman—all as part of a master scheme to make "the name of Superman hated everywhere"—in the mistaken belief that long ago on Krypton, Superman's father, Jor-El, had cheated his own father, Zell-Ex, out of the valuable patent rights to an important invention. For a time the name of Superman becomes anathema to the people of Earth, but Kull-Ex ultimately confesses his misdeeds publicly and makes an effort to atone for them after Superman has proven to him, with the aid of Supergirl and Krypto the Superdog, that his bitter grudge against Jor-El is completely unfounded (S No. 134, Jan 1960: chs. I-III—"The Super-Menace of Metropolis!"; "The Revenge Against Jor-EI!"; "The Duel of the Supermen!").
