Simon Cross
A bodyguard for a famous Metropolis botanist who helps Lois Lane investigate his employer's murder by a mysterious criminal with an artificial arm (SF No. 166, Aug/Sep 1974: "The Murdering Arm of Metropolis!"). Though Cross is killed, his spirit later returns to aid Lois and Superman in apprehending a mobster who adopts the name "The Tarantula" (SF No. 169, Feb/Mar 1975: "Target of the Tarantula!").
