Rene Jacques Brande, a mysterious tycoon and philanthropist of the 30th century, organizes and funds the group of super-powered teens known as the Legion of Super-Heroes. Though referred to earlier, he first appears in the chronicles in Adv No. 350, Nov 1966: "The Outcast Super-Heroes!" and is rescued by the Legion after being kidnapped (Adv No. 351, Dec 1966: "The Forgotten Legion!").
