Chlorophyll Kid
Ral Benem from the planet Mardru is Chlorophyll Kid of the Legion of Substitute Heroes. When very young, Ral is exposed to a vat of plant growing medium and gains the ability to make any vegetation grow "super fast." He uses these plants to surround opponents, entangle enemies in clinging vines, and to force open physical barriers.
Ral often carries seeds with him in order to use his power, however, no vegetable matter he makes larger has any more than ordinary properties (Adv No. 306/2, Mar 1963: "The Legion of Substitute Heroes"; Adv No. 365/2, Feb 1968: "Origins and Powers of the Legion of Super-Heroes").
