The Alchemist
An alias employed by Superman in June 1961 when, in collaboration with Batman, he poses as the inventor of a magic elixir guaranteed to protect anyone who drinks it from bodily harm as part of an elaborate plan to persuade four gangland assassins, hired by the underworld to destroy Batman, that their efforts to murder Batman must inevitably end in failure since Batman has already drunk the magic elixir. Although the plan goes somewhat awry when one of the assassins discovers the Alchemist's true identity, Batman and Superman nevertheless succeed in apprehending the four assassins and in thwarting their attempts on Batman’s life (Batman No. 140/2: "The Charmed Life of Batman!").
