A Green [[Mars|Martian]] by the name of J'onn J'onzz, accidentally teleported to Earth by the elderly Dr. Erdel (original appearance, Detective Comics No. 225, Nov 1955: "The Secret Experiment of Dr. Erdel").  J'onn possesses super strength and flying abilities as well as the powers of shape-shifting and invisibility.  He has an apparent weakness to the flames of fire.  Initially, J'onn adopts the secret identity of John Jones, police detective.

J'onn possesses super strength and flying abilities as well as the powers of shape-shifting and invisibility. He has an apparent weakness to the flames of fire. Initially, J'onn adopts the secret identity of John Jones, police detective.

J'onn was a founding member of the Justice League of America and shares many missions with Superman.
