Einstein received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics before emigrating to the United States where he taught at Princeton University. Jor-El requests of the fellow man of science that he help to ensure that Kal-El receive a proper upbringing. Einstein makes the trip to [[Smallville]] where, with the help of [[Police Chief Parker]], he arranges matters such that Jonathan and Martha Kent will be certain to discover the rocket from Krypton when it arrives (LSOK, 1978). Einstein is a great hero to [[Lex Luthor]]. In 1978, Luthor manages to steal the Einstein Papers, but is unable to read them. Unbeknownst to him, they are written in [[Kryptonese]] and are a personal message intended for Superman (LSOK, 1978). [[Superboy]] makes reference to Einstein's theory of time in a discussion with Lex Luthor after experimenting with [[Time Travel|time travel]], noting that "Albert Einstein theorized that time is like a huge unending circle...that the past and future meet and then keep on going around and around" (NSB No. 38, Feb 1983: "The Day That Lasted Forever!").
