[[Jimmy Olsen]]'s long-lost father. An archaelogist, Mark Olsen is washed downstream after a train wreck kills his wife and leaves his son Jimmy orphaned. Suffering from amnesia, Mark Olsen journeys to [[Mexico]] with another archaelogist, [[Hal Rand]]. When Olsen takes ill, Rand assumes him dead and return to [[Metropolis]], leaving his friend to be nursed back to health by the Mexican Indians who worship Olsen as "Kukulkan, the white serpent of the Mayans." When [[Professor Lewis Lang]] presents [[Superman]] with evidence that Olsen is alive, Superman, Jimmy, and Hal Rand journey to the Yucatan and rescue him. After a tearful reunion, Mark Olsen settles back into life in Metropolis, living in a mansion purchased with Mayan treasure (SPJO No158, Jun 1973: "The Jaws of the Jaguar").
